Information:

Ethoxylated fatty alcohols are soft, non-ionic surfactants. The softness is due to the fact that non-ionic tenside does not have strong electric charges. They are ideal for:

 * Cleaning wool and other delicate fabrics
 * Cleaning face, hands and other skin
 * Emulsifying other ingredients in detergents and cosmetics
 * Moisturizing skin and hair in cosmetic products

Sirius' Ethoxybrite EFA products do not involve any petrochemicals.

The length of the (dirt-dissolving) fat chain is indicated by the number of C atoms. The number of water-binding ethoxy groups is given by the number of moles of EO; the number of bound molecules of ethylene oxide per molecule of Ethoxybrite EFA.

There are synthetic ethoxylated fatty alcohols (made from natural oil); they have an odd number of C atoms (C9-C11-C13-C15-C17, etc.). The ethoxylated fatty alcohols with an even number of C atoms come from natural sources, such as palm oil. So an even number of C atoms ensures a sustainable raw material.

Historically, ethoxylation has been carried out with ethylene oxide from a petrochemical source.

Innovation:

However, Sirius International and its partners managed to carry out the above step by using ethylene oxide from a vegetable source only. As such, Organic Ethoxybrite EFA is the ideal raw material for any green, 100% sustainable, ecologically certified detergent. Sirius' Ethoxybrite EFA products do not involve any petrochemicals.

The higher the cloud point, the higher the solubility of Ethoxybrite EFA in water. The cloud point is the temperature at which an aqueous solution of a water-soluble surfactant becomes cloudy. This is also the point at which the carbon chains accumulate so much energy that they separate. The non-ionic separates in its own phase. For maximum effectiveness, Ethoxybrite's EFA should be used at temperatures at or just below their cloud point. Optimizing micelle formation can limit the chain length of the ethoxylated fatty alcohols available for your application. Our Ethoxybrite's EFA line has a number of chain lengths available to allow you to design exactly the non-ionic that is needed.

Synonyms: fatty alcohol ethoxylate; polyoxyethylene alkyl alcohol; polyethylene alkyl ether C n H 2n + 1 (OCH 2 CH 2 ) mOH, where n is the number or C atoms in the fat chain and e is the average number of moles of ethylene oxide per molecule.

Technical:

Eye irritation hazard.

Ethoxybrite's EFA are liquid raw materials and ideal for use in liquid cleaning products. They are also easily absorbable by carriers such as Silibrite SMS and Silibrite SDS and can therefore be used in washing powders.

Commercial:

Packaging: 1000liter IBC's, 24mt ISO tank container (bulk)

Does “green” clean?

The Sirius effect: Sirius is always looking for a cleaner, greener way to do things.  The result is always something that makes a difference to the planet, even if there is no difference for the consumer.
