The Sirius effect:
Sometimes in life you have to choose one or the other: buy or rent, work or school, natural or functional. But every now and then, you get to have both. Read on to find out how Britens SLS can help you satisfy consumers while helping the planet.
"Due to the rapidly changing world in which we live, we must continue to anticipate"
What people desire when it comes to personal care has always been subjected to societal pressures: pale skin versus a “healthy tan”, the slicked-down pomaded hair styles of the early twentieth century. In more modern times, the trend towards “natural” products and ingredients has been steadily rising throughout the past decade. This trend is fuelled not only by appearances, but also by information: thanks to the Internet, anyone can research anything, and many frequently do.
Sometimes they get it wrong, though: despite years of research indicating that SLS is safe, a quick search for SLS will turn up at least a few articles still claiming it is possible that it could have a negative effect on people’s health or gets absorbed by the body, amongst other pseudo-scientific claims. Even though these claims have been largely debunked, though, there is still pressure to make things “more natural”.
But there’s the catch: SLS is really, really good at solubilizing grease while being minimally detrimental to the human body. Finding another agent with a similar chemical profile can be difficult, expensive, or possibly both, depending on the market that you’re in.
Sirius’ Britens SLS, while being chemically identical to SLS derived from fossil fuels, is 100% bio-based: the hydrocarbon chain comes from sustainably produced palm oil, while the power head is derived from sulphur trioxide.
Therefor is Sirius’ Britens SLS is biodegradable. This means that, at all points in the product life cycle, it is as green as it possibly can be.
Even the process of transporting it is greener: we ship the dry powders, which are much more compact than liquids comprised of 70-90% water so we reduce the carbon foot print significantly . This observation has led to a flurry of products being developed, where the consumer buys a tablet or powder and adds water to obtain a usable product – an application that Britens SLS would be ideal for, as the C12C16 tail length strikes an ideal balance between solubility and cleaning power, making it ideal for liquid applications.
So why not make the switch to the all-natural Sirius' Britens SLS?
Your customers get the best of both worlds: a natural product that works just as well as one derived from the petrochemical industry.
